This assignment requires that you select an article on an industrial disaster that has occurred in the past decade. Research an article using the CSU Online Library, preferably from a peer-reviewed journal, related to the disaster and how the community recovered.

 

Industrial emergency suggestions include, but are not limited to the following:

 

 Savannah Imperial Sugar Refinery explosion (2008),  fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas (2013), and  Texas City Refinery explosion (2005).

 

Within your article review, you will address the following points:

 

 disaster summary,  NGOs that provided assistance,  response critiques, and  community recovery from the emergency.

 

Your article review should be well-organized and at least two pages in length. You are required to use the CSU Online Library as part of the assignment. Your textbook is NOT required for this assignment, although you may choose to use it when discussing concepts that apply to the disaster. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted materials must have accompanying citations in accordance with APA standards.

Using the CSU Online Library, locate an article from a scholarly journal or industry magazine about a specific arbitration case, involving a union or non-union, related to the topics introduced in Chapter 5 of your textbook(I have two articles but prefer uber case article more. will provide brief writeup for the topics to whoever does this). Some topics to consider, but not limited to, bargaining, negotiations, norms, and zone of possible agreement. The article must have been published in the past five years. The format for the article critique is as follows:

 Journal Name and Date

 Key Points: (Five to seven key ideas from the article)

 Summary: (Two to three paragraphs summarizing the article in your own words)  Personal Evaluation: (Two to three paragraphs highlighting the relevance of this article to your position or occupation, your agreement or disagreement with the author and/or findings, and any additional insights you may have.)

Note: The arbitration does not need to be one specifically related to your occupation. It can involve any job field

Your response must be a minimum of two pages.

All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations in APA format.

This assignment, an Article Review, will assist you in thinking critically about sentencing in the United States. To begin this assignment, please access the CSU Online Library and select an article. This article should be from a professional or scholarly journal. Additionally, the article selected should be no more than four years old.

 

Upon selecting the article, please complete an Article Review. The review should include the following,

 

 

1. A summary of the article (1/2-1 page).

 

 

 

 

 

a. Summarize the main points which the author discusses.

 

b. Identify the main argument.

 

c. This summary should provide background for the analysis you provide (see below).

 

 

2. An analysis of the article.

 

a. This is the most important part of the review and should be most of your paper.

 

b. In this section, you should show that you not only read the article, but also that you are thinking critically about it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

c. Think about the following when analyzing this article:

 

i. Is the argument clear and organized?

 

ii. Is evidence presented, more than simply opinion?

 

iii. Is the argument logical, does it make sense?

 

iv. Does the argument match with what you know of the topic?

 

v. Who is the intended audience?

 

vi. Is the argument convincing? Why or why not?

 

vii. Is the argument conventional, controversial, boring, safe, etc.?

 

viii. What suggestions do you have for the author to improve the argument? Did he/she forget to add any significant information (if so, what)?

 

ix. Is this useful for those who study this topic? Why and how?
